Hey there fellow carbon-based human(hopefully)! Thanks for visiting. Presently, I am an early-career software engineer interested in a bunch of things, primarily designing and building robust software systems and infrastructure for both humans and agents. Away from the keyboard, I enjoy functionally working out, trying out different teas, or playing soccer. I recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University where I studied computer science, did a few software engineering internships at Microsoft, Nvidia, Autodesk, researched distributed systems, and invested in Hopkins affiliated founders.

More philosophically, I like to think of myself as, Carl Sagan once famously said, a carbon-chauvinist on a pale blue dot enroute to being a martian. When I was younger, I was obssessed with interplanetary travel and discovery. I still am. There’s something deeply primal about figuring what’s out there. I blame Carl’s books for the obsession. Even though much of their content is dated, Carl’s writing prose is a beacon of hope, wonder, healthy skepticism and curiosity - traits that fundamentally define who I am as a person today.

I use this blog as a way to document my explorations, much like Sagan, so expect topics around computer systems, neuro, health, gym, and misc. Feedback in all forms is highly appreciated. There’s so much I’m yet to learn. If you’d love to chat about anything really, send me a note: hi@bnjoroge.com
